Sam Kemp

Hi, my name is Sam and I am the Chairman for Hope Cove Weekend. I have been on the committee for 6 years now, although this will be my third event. This year it is our aim to make some more changes to the weekend whilst keeping the same family-fun atmosphere which has attracted families for decades. I am sure you will hear my dulcet tones over the microphone throughout the weekend, especially during my favourite event, Beach Flags. When I am not volunteering for the event, I am a teacher at a local Primary school in Kingsbridge. I live there with my wife, son, cat and dog (who many of you will know as the harbourmaster's dog, Red). I hope you thoroughly enjoy yourselves and make this the best weekend we have ever had!

Hi, I’m Sandra and I’ve been coming to Hope Cove since 1976. I absolutely love Hope Cove Weekend and have thoroughly enjoyed entering various events – either on the beach or running in the joggers race and have encouraged my own family and friends to enter all sorts of competitions which run over the weekend. I am delighted to be part of the Committee this year and will be found at my sister’s side at the top of the slipway of the harbour beach, or dashing between there and the square outside the pub, with a clipboard in hand a wearing a high viz jacket(!)

I’m Shelley and have been part of Hope Cove Weekend since we moved here from Cheshire around 8 years ago after buying our business.

As owner of The Cove we love finishing the season with Hope Cove Weekend. A fun packed weekend for our regular visitors, locals and amazing team to let their hair down and end the season with a bang.

Beach activities

Christine Luckock

I’m Christine, I’ve been involved in HCW one way or another since 1976 . I was a lively participant in my younger years particularly in the Raft Race and the Fancy Dress. I started assisting my Dad with the Commentary over HCW as a volunteer some years ago then took over to enable him to take a back seat. I’ve been a committee member since 2018 and I’m delighted that HCW is back! To me it’s all about family fun for all. You’ll generally find me with a microphone and a clipboard and pen at the top of the slipway down to Harbour Beach.

Hannah Pattle

Hi my name is Hannah, I moved to the area back in 2017. I am originally from a coastal town where I farmed sheep & cattle, I work at Pennywell Farm where I am head of the Animal Care Team so I really enjoy the holiday vibe. I love the culture in Hope Cove with its friendly, family atmosphere. Hope Cove Weekend is a real statement for this which I am so please to be a part of and can not wait for all the fun and joy over the Weekend.

Ian Pedrick

I am born and bred in the village, I have been involved with Hope Cove Weekend for the last 30 years, to which I was chairman for part of it.
Me and my Partner Hannah farm pigs for our Hog Roasts, also we have Hereford Cattle and Pygmy goats which we like to Show in our spare time.
We look forward to a very enjoyable Weekend and everyone has plenty of fun.
